Job summary

Moog Commercial Aircraft Group in Tewkesbury is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimise manufacturing processes for precision aerospace components. The role focuses on CNC machining, 5-axis capabilities, and CAD/CAM programming, with training on Siemens NX available for the right candidate.

You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Operations to improve manufacturability, lead process improvement projects, and support NPI activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or process engineering within a precision machining environment.
• 5 Axis Milling and/or Millturn background.
• CAD/CAM programming using Siemens NX or similar.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge.
• Desirable: GD&T principles and regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lean manufacturing processes.
• Create machining processes for complex components with tight tolerances.
• Select cutting tools, design fixtures and produce shop documentation.
• Support NPI activities including Design for Manufacture (DfM) reviews.
• Lead process improvement projects to minimise downtime.
• Review drawings for manufacturability and propose design changes.

Due to continued growth across our Commercial Aircraft Group, Moog is expanding its Manufacturing Engineering team.

Moog Commercial Aircraft Group Tewkesbury is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes for complex aerospace components across a range of materials. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with machining and CAD/CAM experience who is looking to further develop their career within a highly regulated aerospace environment.

Training on Siemens NX can be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lean manufacturing processes focused on quality, cost and delivery.
• Create machining processes for complex components with tight tolerances using CAD/CAM software.
• Select cutting tools, design fixtures and produce shop documentation.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including Design for Manufacture (DfM) reviews.
• Lead and support process improvement projects, ensuring minimal downtime within the machine shop.
• Review engineering drawings for manufacturability and recommend design changes to enhance productivity and standardisation.
• Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Operations teams to achieve business objectives.

Essential

What We're Looking For

• Experience in manufacturing or process engineering within a precision machining environment
• 5 Axis Milling and/or Millturn Background
• CAD/CAM programming experience using Siemens NX, CATIA, Mastercam, Edgecam, FeatureCAM, PartMaker or similar systems.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining processes.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver practical solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable

• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical, Production or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
• Aerospace, Automotive, defence, medical or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
• PFMEA experience.
• Siemens NX experience.
• 5 Axis Milling (Okuma MU4000V or equivalent) and Mill turn (Mazak I100, I200 or DMG NTX 1000)
• Knowledge of GD&T principles.
• Exposure to advanced manufacturing processes.
