Job summary

Adecco is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to improve performance across machining, heavy engineering and related processes. You will work on the shop floor with production teams, identifying challenges, implementing solutions, and creating robust, repeatable processes to drive real improvements.

You should have an engineering qualification (HNC/HND or degree) and experience in a manufacturing environment. CAD familiarity and a hands-on, proactive attitude are valued as you help reduce downtime

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or degree in mechanical/ manufacturing/ production engineering.
  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering environments (machining, heavy engineering, automotive, or similar).
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and problem-solving.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced shop-floor environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance processes to boost efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Investigate and resolve issues using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce downtime, waste and scrap.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing documentation to reflect current practices.
  • Collaborate with production, quality and engineering teams to uphold standards.

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Cramlington

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full Time, Days Only

The Role:

In this key position, you will play an integral role in enhancing manufacturing performance across machining, heavy engineering, and associated production processes. You’ll be on the shop floor, collaborating closely with production teams to identify challenges, implement effective solutions, and establish robust, repeatable processes. Your contributions will be visible and impactful – this isn’t a desk job!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and Enhance Processes: Boost efficiency, quality, and throughput in manufacturing operations.
  • Investigate and Solve Issues: utilise structured problem‑solving techniques to tackle production challenges head‑on.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Focus on reducing downtime, waste, and scrap through proactive initiatives.
  • Maintain Documentation: Help develop and update manufacturing documentation to reflect current practices accurately.
  • Collaborate Effectively: Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to uphold high standards.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Educational Background: HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment (machining, heavy engineering, automotive, or similar).
  • Continuous Improvement Knowledge: Practical understanding of continuous improvement and production support methods.
  • Shop Floor Confidence: Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, shop‑floor‑based environment.
  • CAD Tool Familiarity: Experience using CAD tools within manufacturing is a plus, but not essential.
