Job summary

Eaton seeks an experienced welder to perform manual and orbital TIG welding of aerospace tube assemblies and components. The role requires reading engineering drawings, adhering to AS9100/NADCAP standards and completing precision finishing tasks with emphasis on quality and safety.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of welding experience, is proficient with measurement tools, and actively contributes to 5S and lean manufacturing practices within a quality-focused facility in the UK.

Qualifications

• Welding qualification or internal equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 5 years welding experience; 10 years preferred.
• Experience with manual and orbital TIG welding of tubes ranging from 1/4 to 2 inches diameter.
• Knowledge of aerospace standards AS9100 and NADCAP is advantageous.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and follow process documents.

Responsibilities

• Manual and Orbital TIG welding of tube assemblies and brackets for aerospace components.
• Inspect own work including fit-to-fixture, welds, and final inspection as a visual welder inspector.
• Support fabrication and finishing operations: sizing, facing, polishing, linishing, cleaning and packing.
• Adhere to 5S, safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Operate measurement tools (shadowgraph, borescopes, Vernier, micrometer) for inspection purposes.

Job description

What you’ll do:Manual and Orbital TIG development and welding of rigid and flexible tube assemblies, brackets, and components predominately for the Aerospace industry and complying within an AS9100 and NADCAP approved manufacturing facility. This could also include fabrication or finishing operations associated with these jobs.1. Manual and Orbital TIG welding of mainly tube ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inch diameter both thin wall and thick tubing. Materials include but are not limited to Stainless Steel, Inconel, Titanium, and Aluminium.2. Working in partnership with manufacturing support functions to develop and then follow Data Cards, process specifications, Engineering Drawings, Standard Work Instructions. This could including working on new projects and insourcing projects or working with the manufacturing support functions to develop robust welding processes that could be then trained into General Manual or Orbital welding.3. Daily adhearance to preventative maintenance, 5S standards and audits, and any other systems or procedures to maintain high Aerospace standards of product integrity and lean manufacturing execution.3. Ability to use, maintain, program orbital and manual TIG welding equipment and the use of measurement equipment such as shadowgraph, borescopes, Vernier, micrometre for inspection and fabrication purposes.4. Able to inspect own work including but not limited to fit to fixture after welding, damage, and finally inspection welds as a qualified visual weld inspector.5. Fabrication and finishing of welded assembles including but not limited to: Prepare components to weld ensuring they conform to a fixture or drawing, Sizing, Facing, Polishing, Linishing, cleaning, post weld polishing, cleaning, and packing.6.
