Job summary

Eaton Group in Redditch is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator focused on Manual and Orbital TIG welding for aerospace components. You will work with ferritic and austenitic metals, operate inspection tools, and adhere to AS9100/NADCAP quality standards. The role involves following data cards, drawings, and process instructions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of welding experience, strong attention to quality, and a habit of safe, efficient production in a lean manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Min 5 years welding experience; 10 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manual and Orbital TIG welding of tube assemblies and brackets for aerospace applications.
• Work with drawings, process specs, and standard work instructions to develop and follow robust welding processes.
• Maintain 5S standards, conduct audits, and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Inspect own work and welds as a qualified visual weld inspector.
• Assist with fabrication and finishing of welded assemblies and post-weld finishing.

Job description

What you’ll do:

• Manual and Orbital TIG development and welding of rigid and flexible tube assemblies, brackets, and components predominately for the Aerospace industry and complying within an AS9100 and NADCAP approved manufacturing facility. This could also include fabrication or finishing operations associated with these jobs.
• Manual and Orbital TIG welding of mainly tube ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inch diameter both thin wall and thick tubing. Materials include but are not limited to Stainless Steel, Inconel, Titanium, and Aluminium.
• Working in partnership with manufacturing support functions to develop and then follow Data Cards, process specifications, Engineering Drawings, Standard Work Instructions. This could including working on new projects and insourcing projects or working with the manufacturing support functions to develop robust welding processes that could be then trained into General Manual or Orbital welding.
• Daily adhearance to preventative maintenance, 5S standards and audits, and any other systems or procedures to maintain high Aerospace standards of product integrity and lean manufacturing execution.
• Ability to use, maintain, program orbital and manual TIG welding equipment and the use of measurement equipment such as shadowgraph, borescopes, Vernier, micrometre for inspection and fabrication purposes.
• Able to inspect own work including but not limited to fit to fixture after welding, damage, and finally inspection welds as a qualified visual weld inspector.
• Fabrication and finishing of welded assembles including but not limited to: Prepare components to weld ensuring they conform to a fixture or drawing, Sizing, Facing, Polishing, Linishing, cleaning, post weld polishing, cleaning, and packing.
• Active participation in Safety and Continuous Improvement actives including but not limited to: Guard Check sheets, Risk assessments, Problem solving to reduce scrap & rework, productivity and standard work events, improve workplace organisation and 5S, on the job training of team members.
