Job summary

Manual Universal Grinder role in the South Birmingham area within a precision engineering environment. You will set up and operate manual grinding machines to produce tight tolerances on high‑quality components.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience with manual grinding, reading engineering drawings, and using measuring tools such as micrometers, bore gauges and dial indicators. Monday to Friday, day shift with overtime opportunities.

Are you an experienced Manual Grinder with a background in precision engineering looking to join an established manufacturing business where you can utilise your skills on high-precision components?

On offer is a hands‑on position within a precision engineering environment, working with manual grinding machinery and producing components to tight tolerances, with the opportunity to develop your skills further.

This established company specialise in the manufacture of precision‑engineered components and are now looking for an experienced maunal Grinder to join their production team and play a key role in maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.

The day to day of this role includes setting and operating manual universal grinding machines, carrying out cylindrical, internal and external grinding, reading engineering drawings, dressing grinding wheels and making machine adjustments to achieve required tolerances. You will also carry out inspections using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators and verniers.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating manual universal grinding machines within a precision engineering environment, with the ability to work accurately to tight tolerances and confidently interpret engineering drawings.
