Job summary

H&MV Engineering is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead day‑to‑day commercial activities on large-scale data centre projects in the South East. You will work closely with commercial and engineering teams, clients, and stakeholders to deliver the commercial aspects of projects for H&MV.

The role requires 2–3 years MQS experience, strong Excel skills, and a collaborative, initiative-driven mindset.

Qualifications

• University Degree in Quantity Surveying is desired.
• Minimum 2-3 Years’ experience in a MQS position.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to problem solve in a collaborative fashion.
• Team player with high initiative.

Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day commercial and contract activities, including procurement schedule creation and monitoring.
• Ensure suppliers and sub‑contractors are managed in line with company policies and contractual requirements.
• Use agreed costing systems for allocation, coding, cost analysis, and Tender vs Construction comparisons.
• Maintain contract progress through regular updates, meeting milestones, processing payment applications, and updating obligations.
• Manage sub‑contractor accounts: selection, appointments, contracts, payments, and variation control, with ongoing liaison with clients and site teams.
• Lead contract negotiations, participate in handovers with estimating, and elevate value changes or issues to senior management.
• Produce and present monthly cost reports while supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members.

About the Role:

Your project portfolio will include a number of Data Centre pojects across the South East. You'll work closely with the commercial & engineering teams, clients, and key stakeholders to deliver on the commercial side of projects for H&MV.
