Job summary

Sphere Solutions is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our highways maintenance team in the West Midlands. You will lead commercial and administrative functions under NEC-based contracts, liaising with clients and overseeing payments, WIP, and subcontractor management.

The role requires a degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (desirable) with a strong track record as a managing/senior QS in construction, especially highways.

Qualifications

Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or related subject (desirable).
Strong commercial experience as a Managing or Senior QS within construction.
Experience in highways maintenance, NEC contracts preferred.
Good command of written and spoken English.
Strong organisational skills and MS Office proficiency.
Experience with Causeway, Confirm, and Oracle is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Maximise and protect the company's commercial position by managing commercial and administrative functions per contract terms.
Liaise with the client on commercial issues and auditing enquiries.
Actively manage Work in Progress to acceptable levels.
Manage Subcontractors, including issuing payments and notices.
Organise and lead monthly CVR meetings with Commercial and Operational teams.
Manage change control including CE's, EW's, and Star Rates.
Provide contractual and measurement advice to Operations and Commercial teams.
Support the Commercial Manager in administering the monthly Application for Payment.
Assist in developing the team.

What you’ll be doing

What you’ll bring

Good command and communication of oral and written English
Good organisational skills
Proficient in the use of MS Office
Understanding and previous use of Causeway Project Accounting, Confirm, and Oracle would be an advantage
