We are recruiting a Managing Quantity Surveyor for a GBP90 million scheme near Southampton that is currently being negotiated with the client.
The project involves the construction of a new 800-bed student development, including RC Frame and full fit-out.
Your role is to lead and manage the project commercial team, collaborate with estimating, design, and delivery teams to establish best practices and delivery methods, and liaise with the client and external stakeholders.
You will be responsible for financial forecasting and reporting, aiming to maximize margins without delaying or compromising the build program or quality of the finish. You will lead on new development opportunities from the client and handle complex subcontract packages such as groundworks and services. Additionally, you will train, mentor, and develop the onsite team, and be responsible for new appointments and building the final project team.
The contractor is a Tier 1 national business, family-owned, working on schemes GBP30 million upwards. They offer career development, training, external qualifications, and have industry-leading staff retention.
Ideally, you will have experience working for a Tier 1 contractor on major projects, either as an MQS seeking your next challenge or as an SQS looking to advance to manage your own scheme.
