Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking two Managing Quantity Surveyors for the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project, based at Redcar with options for Leeds or Newcastle upon Tyne. You will oversee NEC contract administration, prepare payments, and manage project costs on site.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to travel between bases as needed. Hybrid pattern: three days onsite, two days remote, with travel to Redcar as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying (BSc/MSc) or equivalent
• Leadership experience and ability to travel within the region
• Strong analytical thinking, decision making and communication skills
• Experience with NEC contract administration and management

Responsibilities

• Experience of NEC contract administration and management
• Measure, record and value work unsupervised in accordance with procedures
• Prepare payment applications and final accounts
• Use project accounting systems, monitor costs and produce cost/value reconciliations
• Review programmes and plan commercial activities to meet timelines
• End-to-end supplier procurement and contract administration
• Identify and manage risks with project team
• Support development of team members and provide guidance
• Hold or pursue professional membership from RICS or equivalent

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Experience of NEC contract administration and management
• Measure, record and value work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
• Composition of applications for payment, data assurance/analysis and final account procedures
• Use and manage project accounting systems, monitor costs, and produce cost vs value reconciliations
• Review programmes of works and plan commercial activities to meet the requirements of programmes
• End to end supplier procurement, supply chain management, contract administration and value for money assurance
• Actively identify, communicate and manage risk in collaboration with the project team
• Support the development of other team members and provide professional guidance
• Hold or be working towards professional membership from the RICS or equivalent
