Guardian Jobs is seeking a Managing Director for its Bury, Greater Manchester site. The role carries full operational responsibility, reports to the ownership group and drives strategic direction across product, purchasing, sales and finance.

You will lead a small, experienced team, manage supplier relationships, and steer investment in systems and processes to improve profitability and growth. Equity and a strong bonus plan accompany the base salary.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Managing Director or equivalent with full P&L responsibility.
• Proven track record in small/owner-managed businesses across purchasing, ops, sales and finance.
• Demonstrated hands-on, proactive leadership across all business functions.
• Strong financial literacy including budgeting, forecasting and working capital management.
• Ability to work autonomously and report transparently to ownership.

Responsibilities

• Own revenue, gross margin, overhead control and profitability with monthly reporting.
• Oversee product management including quality, new product introduction and improvements.
• Manage overseas suppliers, negotiate pricing/terms and monitor lead times.
• Control stock with reorder planning, stock accuracy and slow-moving inventory.
• Lead key trade accounts, pricing policy and development of new business channels.
• Direct a small team across warehouse, manufacturing, dispatch and admin.
• Lead systems improvement and the implementation of new accounting/stock software.
• Oversee site health and safety and day-to-day operations.
