Job Description:

The Deal Execution team is part of KPMG’s rapidly expanding Strategy Group, which delivers value for clients by challenging conventional thinking, bringing deep industry and functional insights, and executing with investor-grade rigour. We are a diverse team of over 105 practitioners, working collaboratively within our Advisory business, focused on enhancing value for clients across the deal and economic cycle. Our teams help clients from conceptual thinking of buying a business to transforming their operations during times of difficulty.

The People in M&A Centre of Excellence manages all aspects of the employee journey in M&A and leverages experience to enact transformational change outside of deals. From early strategy development and organisational design for carve-outs, to synergy analysis, employee experience, and corporate culture, we develop solutions that maximize value and ensure smooth employee transitions.

The Manager role is crucial, being the core of project leadership and delivery, working alongside global organization leaders. Opportunities exist to specialize in specific sectors.

Our four key client proposition areas are:

• Employee experience: Executing engagement programs to address employee impacts, ensuring employees would choose to join the company independently of the deal.
• Organisational strategy development: Designing organization, people strategy, operating models, synergies, and value enhancements for carve-outs or standalone operations.
• Labour relations and compliance: Managing HR risks and obligations globally to meet deal timelines and integration changes.
• HR operations: Delivering HR services cost-effectively during and after deals, providing high-level service to employees.

Role Overview

This role involves leading projects, working closely with senior team members to develop deal knowledge and skills in people, OD, strategy, and HR. You will also leverage your change and consulting skills to deliver transformational change outside of deal contexts.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Leading small-to-medium engagements and supporting clients daily.
  2. Due Diligence: Reviewing deal reports, analyzing people data, providing insights on HR issues, and developing benchmarks.
  3. Integration & Separation: Advising on people, strategy, and organizational design during integrations and separations, leading HR workstreams, facilitating workshops, and reviewing organizational design.
  4. Transformational Change: Supporting clients in achieving objectives, designing transformation roadmaps, facilitating client thinking, creating change management plans, and identifying risks.
  5. Wider Responsibilities: Engaging with stakeholders, coaching junior team members, ensuring quality and risk management, and supporting propositions and tools development.

Leadership & Management

The Manager supports mentoring, coaching, and development of junior staff, challenges the team to be innovative, and ensures outcomes are commercially focused and value-adding. You will contribute to pitches, proposals, and market initiatives.

Stakeholder Interaction & Challenges

You will advise on complex deals, act as Engagement Manager for small to medium projects, serve as a key client contact, manage stakeholder relationships, ensure high-quality deliverables, and identify opportunities to employ Deal Execution and Advisory technology.

The Person

Work Experience:
• Background in HR, OD, or Strategy, preferably in M&A.
• Experience in M&A projects and consultation.
• Expertise in People strategy, TUPE, HR functions, unions, organizational design, employee engagement, talent analysis, recruitment, and retention.
• Experience leading client meetings, workshops, and teams.
• Strong understanding of HR value drivers.
• Ability to manage teams and complex projects.
• Experience developing business pitches.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and exercise professional judgment.
• Curiosity and innovation, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Professional, Technical & Soft Skills:
• Bachelor's degree; professional qualifications preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, learn quickly, and adapt.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Structured thinking and creativity.
• Credibility in discussing industry issues.
• Ability to evaluate challenges and deliver practical recommendations.
• Market awareness of client strategies and challenges.
