POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in the United Kingdom-remote (preference for candidates located in or near London). This position is part-time (60% to 80%).
We are looking for a proactive, resourceful, and hands-on Manager, Operations UK to support our UK operations and contribute to the smooth running of our broader Europe-based operations team. This is a wide-ranging, generalist role requiring a blend of skills across HR administration, finance, and accounting coordination, contracting, compliance, and internal operations.
You’ll need to be comfortable wearing multiple hats and able to stay calm and effective in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities. Experience in all areas is not expected — we’re looking for someone with strong organisational and collaboration skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to drive work forward and follow through.

Responsibilities
Human Resources & People Support:
- Coordinate UK-based HR administration, including employment documentation, time & attendance, payroll, benefits, and right to work checks.
- Serve as a point of contact for HR-related queries and liaise with internal and external HR/payroll providers.
- Support recruitment and onboarding for new UK hires.
- Assist in coordinating staff wellbeing and compliance with relevant UK labour laws.
Finance
- Ensure timely processing of invoices, expense reimbursements, banking transactions, and reconciliations as well as any other accounting entries.
- Maintain accurate records for financial transactions and budget tracking
- Coordinate annual consolidated financial statement & audit requirements.
- Support with budget preparation and donor reporting as needed.
Administration, Operations & Compliance
- Serve as the first point of contact for general UK operational matters, working closely with the VP UK and the Operations Europe team.
- Assist with procurement and contract administration.
- Support UK donation coordination, including maintaining accurate donor records and ensuring compliance with Gift Aid requirements.
- Assist with logistics and planning for a potential UK physical base, and take on office management responsibilities if a space is established.
- Ensure compliance with Charity Commission and UK statutory requirements.
- Support internal processes for audit, documentation, and compliance.
- Provide logistical support for meetings, events, and board preparation.
Cross-team collaboration
- Partner with colleagues across Europe and globally to align on policies and ensure consistency in operations.
- Contribute to improving internal systems and workflows.
- Assist with coordination across departments as needed.
- Act as liaison with internal IT support and external vendors for UK staff.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor to support team and organisational priorities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Reports to: Vice President, CI United Kingdom, and dotted line to Vice President, People & Operations
- Location: Remote, based in the United Kingdom (preference for candidates located in or near London)
- Duration: Open-ended
- Travel: Occasional travel to Brussels (approximately once per quarter)

Qualifications
Required
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Proactive, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Strong English writing and speaking skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Knowledge or keen interest in HR, finance, and operations.
- IT literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, willingness to learn new tools and systems).
- Right to live and work in the UK.
- Interest in nature conservation or sustainability.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar role (HR admin, finance support, ops coordinator, etc.)
- Previous experience in a nonprofit, international, or remote team environment
- Knowledge of payroll systems or UK charity operations
- French or other EU language skills
