Responsibilities

• Tenue de livres quotidienne et hebdomadaire dans Xero.
• Préparation des comptes de gestion dans les 6 jours suivant la fin du mois.
• Réconciliation des comptes de la société de financement de stock.

Sip Champagnes is an award winning innovative and ethical e-commerce start-up established in June 2020. Our mission is to revolutionise the Champagne market by introducing consumers from across the globe to small-scale artisan Champagne.

The Role

We are presently seeking a part-qualified accountant/bookkeeper (ACCA, AAT, CIMA or similar) to work remotely for up to three days per week (ideally two). You will take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping in Xero and deliver accurate, timely management accounts, reporting directly to the Co-founder & CEO.

Key Responsibilities

Daily / Weekly

- Post purchase invoices received via Hubdoc/Xero

- Update Xero and reconcile all bank feeds

- Maintain inter-company loan/current-account postings

- Update third-party sales from the stock finance company and record any 'off-book' transactions

Month-end

- Shopify Gift-Subscriptions – run schedule, identify deferred vs current revenue, post journals

- Bonded warehouse – allocate and post duty invoices; reconcile to C79 import VAT statements

- Reconcile the stock finance company account (sales invoiced by them; payments to producers)

- Prepare and post month-end stock-sheet entries

Reporting

- Prepare management accounts pack (P&L;, balance sheet, cash-flow, KPIs) within 6 working days of month end

- Highlight variances and investigate with the executive team

- Assist with year-end file for external accountants

Essential Experience & Skills

- Part-qualified (passed at least one professional level; not necessarily continuing).

- 3+ years in a small accountancy practice or outsourced finance function.

- Advanced Xero user; comfortable with Hubdoc, bank rules and multi-currency.

- Solid bookkeeping foundations – double-entry, accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue.

- Confident preparing management accounts unaided.

- Good working knowledge of UK VAT, import duty, C79s and inter-company entries.

- Strong Excel/Google-Sheets skills; able to manipulate large CSV exports (Shopify, stock finance company).

- Excellent written and verbal English; able to communicate clearly with non-finance colleagues.

- Prior exposure to Shopify, stock finance company and/or bonded warehouse stock accounting.

- Experience with inventory or wine/food & drink sectors.

Type: Freelance/contractor (Outside IR35, own Ltd/PSC)

Time commitment: Up to 3 days per week (ideally 2 days; approximately 15–22.5 hrs). Core overlap with

09:00–17:00 UK time.

Initial term: 6 months, with scope to extend or increase days as the business grows.

Equipment: You supply a secure computer and internet; we provide cloud software licences.

Reporting line: Direct to Co-founder & CEO.

KPIs: Bank reconciled within 24 hrs; Purchase invoices posted within 48 hrs; Month-end pack issued ≤ day 6
