Job summary

Distinct | B Corp in West Yorkshire is seeking a qualified Management Accountant to take ownership of one part of the business's numbers. This permanent hybrid role requires 3 days a week in the office and offers a salary of £50,000 to £55,000.

You will produce monthly management accounts with commentary, collaborate with operational teams quarterly, track work done but not invoiced, and support year-end audits. The role may involve coaching a junior accountant and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• Management accounts experience, ideally with contract or project accounting.
• Strong Excel.
• Comfortable explaining the numbers to non-finance people.
• Organised enough to manage deadlines and help others.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly management accounts and the accompanying commentary.
• Review contracts with operational teams each quarter.
• Track work done but not invoiced and ensure timely billing.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and keep them tidy.
• Support year-end audit and controls testing.
• Provide analysis when the business requests it.
• Possibly coach a junior accountant.

I'm recruiting a qualified Management Accountant to take ownership of one part of a large business's numbers. If you like having your own set of accounts and being the person the operational teams come to, it's worth a look.

The finance work is contract based. A big part of the job is understanding where each piece of work stands and making sure revenue is recognised and invoiced at the right time. The team is established and well run.

The role

• Your own set of monthly management accounts and the commentary that goes with them
• Sitting down with the operational teams each quarter to review where their contracts stand
• Work done but not yet invoiced: tracking it and getting it billed
• Balance sheet reconciliations, kept tidy and supported
• Year end audit support and controls testing
• Analysis when the business asks for it
• Possible coaching of a more junior accountant
• Improving and automating how the month end runs

The person

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA
• Management accounts experience, ideally with contract or project accounting
