Job summary

Jacob Grey are exclusively partnered with a construction business in Watford to identify a new Management Accountant/Finance Manager for their busy finance function. You will produce monthly accounts for multiple entities, manage P&L, balance sheets, and liaise with HMRC on CIS and VAT responsibilities.

Reporting to the Head of Finance and working with the MD, this role offers hands-on finance leadership, potential budgeting involvement, and a chance to streamline processes in a growing business.

Qualifications

• Part Qualified or Qualified accountant with construction sector exposure.
• Experience preparing full sets of management accounts (or to trial balance).
• Knowledge of Sage and MS Excel is a bonus.
• Some supervisory experience and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly accounts for multiple entities within the group.
• P&L production, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals/prepayments, journal adjustments.
• Support month end close for the core business (largest entity).
• Reconcile cash books and perform bank reconciliations.
• Compile CIS returns and liaise with HMRC; handle VAT returns and submissions.
• Supervise/manage transactional team; assist with purchase and sales ledgers.
• Maintain Fixed Asset register including depreciation; contribute to budgeting and year end.

Jacob Grey are exclusively partnered with a construction business in Watford to identify a new Management Accountant/Finance Manager for their busy finance function.

Reporting to the Head of Finance of this Watford based Construction business, and working closely with the MD, this is a varied role with hands on responsibility for many aspects of finance, including preparation of management accounts for several entities.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsibility for producing the monthly accounts for multiple entities within the group.
• P&L production, balancesheet reconciliations, accruals/prepayments, journal adjustments
• Supporting the Head of Finance with the month end close for the core business (and largest entity).
• Reconciling the cash books
• Bank reconciliations
• Compiling CIS returns and liaising with HMRC.
• VAT returns and submissions
• Supervising/managing members of the transactional team
• Support the Purchase ledger and sales ledger team where required, especially with regards to query resolution and process improvement
• Maintaining the Fixed Asset register including calculating depreciation
• Potential involvement in the budgeting process and Year End depending on your ambitions

Experience Required

The ideal candidate will be a Part Qualified or Qualified accountant with recent exposure to the construction sector. You will have demonstrable experience in a similar role, able to prepare full sets of management accounts (or at the very least, taking them to trial balance). Knowledge of Sage and MS Excel would be a bonus

Some supervisory experience would also be an advantage as well as possessing tons of initiative, a positive outlook, and an analytical mind.
