Job summary

A family-owned construction business in Dagenham is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. This fully office-based role offers genuine long-term progression opportunities as the finance function evolves. The successful candidate will oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, statutory reporting, cashflow analysis, and manage a team of finance staff. Strong Excel skills and management accounting experience are essential, ideally within a project-based environment.

Qualifications

• ACCA / CIMA / ACA qualification or finalist required.
• Proven experience in management accounting within an SME environment.
• Previous experience in construction or project-based business is advantageous.
• Previous experience within construction or a similar project-based business would be advantageous.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts.
• Responsibility for statutory reporting and supporting year-end accounts.
• Cashflow analysis and ongoing working capital management.
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
• Audit preparation and liaison with external auditors.
• Management of a team of four finance staff.
• Supervision of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Collaboration with commercial teams to support business performance.
• Ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support senior management during the restructure period

• Preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
• Responsibility for statutory reporting and supporting year-end accounts
• Cashflow analysis, forecasting, and ongoing working capital management
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Audit preparation and liaison with external auditors
• Oversight and day-to-day management of a team of four finance staff
• Supervision of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Close collaboration with commercial and trading teams to support business performance and decision-making
• Ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support senior management during the restructure period

Skills & Experience Required

• ACCA / CIMA / ACA qualified or finalist
• Strong Excel skills (advanced level)
• Proven experience in a senior finance or management accounting role within an SME environment
