Job summary

Cummins Mellor Group in Lancaster is recruiting a skilled Management Accountant to join a growing finance team. You'll support monthly reporting, variance analysis, stock control and budgeting, helping to drive financial performance and business growth.

You will work closely with colleagues across the business, take ownership of processes, and develop your skills in a collaborative environment. AAT or CIMA/ACCA/ACA or QBE candidates with manufacturing experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• AAT or professional accounting qualification, or equivalent (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or QBE).
• Experience in management accounts or broader finance roles.
• Manufacturing environment experience preferred.
• Knowledge of stock accounting, reconciliations and internal controls.
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
• Experience handling large volumes of financial data in financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly financial reporting, management accounts and reconciliations.
• Review costs and performance, investigate variances and raise corrective actions.
• Monitor stock levels, values and movements; ensure records are accurate.
• Support stock reviews; identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency and cost control.
• Track purchasing activity and financial commitments.
• Collaborate across functions to improve processes and strengthen controls.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning.
• Provide general support across the finance function as needed.

The Opportunity

This is a varied, hands-on position offering plenty of scope to take ownership, build relationships across the business and make a genuine contribution.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting with monthly financial reporting, management accounts and associated reconciliations.
• Reviewing business costs and performance, investigating variances and highlighting areas that need further attention.
• Monitoring stock levels, values and movements, ensuring financial records are accurate and any discrepancies are followed through.
• Supporting regular stock reviews and identifying opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency and cost control.
• Keeping track of purchasing activity and associated financial commitments.
• Working with colleagues across the business to improve processes, strengthen financial controls and ensure procedures are being followed.
• Contributing to budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning.
• Providing general support across the wider finance function, getting involved in different areas as business needs evolve.

What you'll ideally bring

• AAT qualified, part-qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA, fully qualified or QBE with relevant experience.
• Previous experience in a management accounts or broader finance position.
• Ideally, experience working within a manufacturing environment.
• An understanding of stock accounting, reconciliations and financial controls.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate information and identify discrepancies.
• Confidence working with financial systems and handling large amounts of financial data.
• A proactive, organised approach with good attention to detail.
• Someone who enjoys working as part of a team, building relationships and getting stuck into a varied role.
