Job description

A fantastic role has arisen for a Management Accountant to join a large successful company based in Manchester. This role offers excellent hybrid working options and progression opportunities.

Responsibilities

1. Manage and oversee cost accounting processes, including the preparation of cost-related month-end journals and reporting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company policies.
2. Support the completion of month-end cost processes and the timely delivery of month-end outputs. Ensure that all relevant cost data is accurately recorded and reported, in line with financial governance standards.
3. Monitor cost-related accounting processes to ensure compliance with internal controls, escalate any risks or issues to the Cost Senior Financial Accountant, and propose actions to mitigate risks.
4. Provide cost analysis and financial insights for month-end reporting and support the Commercial Finance team to ensure cost data is accurate and accessible for decision-making.
5. Assist the Cost Senior Financial Accountant with ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting tasks, and cost-related projects, offering strategic recommendations and operational support.
6. Contribute to improving cost reporting, accounting processes, and system automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.

Requirements

1. Candidates qualified in or pursuing a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA are preferred.
2. Understanding of finance or accounting roles, with experience in balance sheet management, reconciliations, and cash management.
3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and cash flow management strategies.
4. Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., Workday) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
