Job Description

Scope Of Position

The Management Accountant will play a key role in improving financial processes and operational efficiency across the hotel. Responsibilities include enhancing forecasting accuracy, supporting audits, developing labour and cost control standards, and automating finance tasks such as income audit and AP/AR processes. They will work closely with the Financial Controller to streamline the month-end close and will take full responsibility for the Residential accounts, including the quarterly VAT return.

Responsibilities

Operation – Residential Accounts
  • Reconcile intercompany balance sheet accounts between hotel and residential ledgers, and issue invoices to ensure accurate cost recovery by WHL from ownership.
  • Prepare quarterly residential financial accounts, including posting deferred income, expenses, and accruals per accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Residences to resolve queries and clarify residential financial matters.
  • Maintain a log of all service charge demands, tracking outstanding balances and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Partner with ownership to prepare and submit group VAT returns, ensuring compliance.
Operation – Month End
  • Prepare and post month-end accruals aligned with reporting timelines.
  • Review general ledger and reclassify expenses with the Financial Controller.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accounts are accurate.
  • Prepare month-end reporting packs for ownership and asset managers, ensuring clarity and timeliness.
Operation – Automation Projects
  • Collaborate to automate routine reporting tasks, such as Income Audit reconciliations, using advanced Excel skills.
  • Streamline credit card reconciliation processes through automation to handle high transaction volumes.
  • Assist with the implementation of the DocuWare project to automate AP invoice matching, enhancing efficiency.
Operation – Other
  • Analyze stock variances, focusing on beverage costs, to identify discrepancies and improve inventory control.
  • Work with Heads of Department to develop and implement labour standards for operational areas.
  • Review and ensure compliance with FOCUS (internal control) guidelines through training and monitoring.
  • Support the professional development of Finance team members and cover key roles during absences.
  • Perform other duties as required, including working in different departments or restaurants.
