Job summary

RG Consultancy, based in Liverpool, is seeking a knowledgeable Management Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role is suitable for a part/fully qualified CIMA or ACCA candidate with at least 2 years in a senior finance role.

You will prepare monthly management accounts (P&L and balance sheet), own the month-end process, and provide detailed variance analyses. The role involves budgeting, forecasting, KPI monitoring, and close collaboration with operations to drive cost control.

Qualifications

• Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L and balance sheet reporting.
• Own month-end process with journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Produce variance analysis vs budget/forecast.
• Provide financial insight to senior management.
• Assist with budgets and forecasts.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 4 within finance.

• Support cash flow forecasting and year-end audit requirements.
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve costs and reporting.

Job description

RG Consultancy are delighted to be working with a successful engineering company based in the heart of Liverpool to recruit a knowledgeable Management Accountant. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this role is an excellent opportunity for a part / qualified CIMA or ACCA candidate to join a growing team.

Skills include but are not limited to:

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet reporting
• Take ownership of the month-end process, including journals, accruals and prepayments
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies
• Produce detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior year results
• Provide clear financial insight to senior management
• Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
• Monitor business performance, costs and KPIs
• Work closely with operational teams to improve financial understanding and cost control
• Support cash flow forecasting
• Assist with year-end accounts and external audit requirements
• Prepare VAT returns and other financial information where required
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting
• Provide financial analysis and support on ad hoc projects as required
• Managing a team of 4 within finance
• 2 years' experience within a senior finance role
