Job summary

RG Consultancy are recruiting for a Management Accountant to join a large, established business in Elland on a full-time, permanent basis. The role involves preparing monthly management accounts for projects, supporting month-end close, and providing financial insight to project teams.

You will work with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors, develop cost reports, assist with budgeting and cash flow planning, and help improve controls and reporting efficiencies.

Qualifications

• Previous experience preparing management accounts and financial reports.
• Strong understanding of project costing, contract accounting, and profitability analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using accounting/ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• AAT qualified, ACCA/CIMA part-qualified, or qualified by experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for projects and business operations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Support external audit requirements and provide information for statutory reporting.
• Produce project cost reports, analyse financial performance, and investigate variances against budgets and forecasts.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes.
• Work closely with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to provide financial insight and commercial support.
• Identify opportunities to improve margins, control costs, and enhance financial performance.
• Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Assist in the development and improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting efficiencies.
• Provide ongoing support to the Financial Controller and undertake ad hoc finance projects as required.

The company are well established and a large sized turnover business, looking for someone who has already been involved in month end to join the finance function.

Duties include:
