Job summary

Marmion, Harrogate-based, is seeking a commercially minded Finance Manager to drive financial growth in a fast‑paced SME. The role blends hands‑on financial management with strategic analysis, partnering with senior leadership to shape commercial strategy.

You will own month‑end and year‑end reporting, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow, while ensuring strong controls and insightful reporting to guide decision making.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Experience in a Finance Manager or similar leadership role.
• Experience in an SME environment with broad, commercially focused finance.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting experience.
• Advanced Excel and Xero proficiency.
• Ability to influence non-financial stakeholders.
• Excellent accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.
• UK resident with unrestricted right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
• Prepare management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Monitor financial performance and provide commercial analysis and recommendations.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
• Support future acquisitions, projects and strategic business developments where required.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
• Support annual audit and year-end accounting activities.
• Provide financial reporting and insights to senior management and stakeholders.
• Maintain and improve financial controls, processes, and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting and financial performance.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Manager Director, the Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the financial success of this growing business. This is a hands‑on position that combines day‑to‑day financial management with commercial analysis and strategic planning. You'll enjoy plenty of autonomy, taking ownership of the finance function while partnering closely with senior leadership to help shape commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the month‑end and year‑end financial reporting processes
• Prepare management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Monitor financial performance and provide commercial analysis and recommendations

Key Skills & Experience:

• Professional accounting qualifications –ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent
• Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, or similar finance leadership role
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Xero
• Previous experience within an SMEwhere you've enjoyed a broad, commercially focused finance role rather than a highly specialised corporate position.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting experience
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence non‑financial stakeholders
• High levels of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail
• UK resident with unrestricted right to work in the UK
