Job summary

Distinct Recruitment are partnering with a fast-growing innovative business in East Leeds to recruit a part-qualified accountant into the finance team.

You will join a growing team, handling monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns, and supporting the Financial Controller with year-end and audits, while pursuing ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications with study support.

Qualifications

• Part qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.

Responsibilities

• Preparing the monthly management accounts from start to finish.
• Preparing and reviewing key monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Overhead cost variance analysis and control.
• Preparing and reviewing monthly VAT returns.
• Supporting the Financial Controller on year-end statutory accounts and external audit.
• Reviewing financial controls to meet growing business needs.

Job description

Distinct are delighted to be working with a highly innovative, fast-growing business which is looking for a part qualified accountant to join its finance team in East Leeds.

This is a business that has grown substantially over the last few years and has no intention of slowing down. As a result, they're adding an additional management accountant to the team.

Great role for someone midway through their studies, who has a good foundation of management accounting experience and is looking to broaden their exposure into financial reporting, balance sheet control and the year end.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing the monthly management accounts from start to finish
• Preparing and reviewing the key monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Strong analysis and control of overheads, including detailed cost variance analysis
• Preparing and reviewing the monthly VAT returns
• Supporting the Financial Controller on the annual statutory accounts and delivering the external audit
• Periodically reviewing financial controls and making sure they still meet the needs of a growing business

Candidate Profile

• Part qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA
• Prior management accounting experience, ideally in a fast-paced organisation
• Stakeholder management experience
• Willingness and appetite to want to learn and get involved in areas that fall outside of the typically day to day responsibilities
