Job summary

The University of Warwick is seeking an ambitious Management Accountant to join its Research Finance team. You will oversee monthly and quarterly reporting for externally funded projects, working closely with the Head of Finance (Research) and Finance Managers.

In addition to developing procedures, you’ll support audits, supervise a small team, and help induct new staff, while applying your CCAB or CIMA qualification and your advanced Excel and SAP skills in a fast-paced academic environment.

Job description

Are you a qualified accountant looking to take the next step in a role where your expertise genuinely shapes how world-leading research is delivered? The University of Warwick's Finance Office is seeking an ambitious and proactive Management Accountant to join its Research Finance team.

You will be responsible for overseeing key aspects of monthly and quarterly financial reporting within Research Finance. Working closely with the Head of Finance (Research) and the Research Finance Managers, you will manage a portfolio of high-priority, externally funded research projects. Your responsibilities will also include developing and enhancing procedures and systems, providing flexible cover for Finance Managers and Senior Research Finance Assistants, managing audits, supervising a small team, and supporting the induction of new staff

About you

You will be an ambitious and proactive professional with strong communication and organisational skills. With proven experience in a Finance environment, you’ll demonstrate sound knowledge of accounting standards and management accounting principles.

A recognised CCAB or CIMA professional accountancy qualification is essential.

You will bring excellent IT proficiency, including advanced Excel skills, along with a solid understanding of the structure and functionality of large-scale financial information systems such as SAP.

In addition, you’ll have the capability to manage a diverse portfolio of research projects, applying your expertise to reporting, and analysis within a complex and fast-paced setting.

The role is campus based however staff can opt to work under the Finance Office’s current hybrid policy where a maximum of 40% of time (2 days per week for full time staff; normally Tuesdays and Fridays) can be worked remotely.
