Job summary

Halliday Marx have exclusive partnership with a leading British manufacturing firm to appoint a Finance Manager / Management Accountant in Birmingham. The role offers a hybrid setup (4 days in) or in-office work and centers on month-end close, ledger management and robust management accounting.

You will drive process improvements, oversee audits, payroll, tax compliance and statutory reporting, and play a key role in the ERP migration with data cleansing and testing.

Qualifications

• Experience with the full finance cycle and ownership of month-end close.
• Experience in a manufacturing SME and ERP/migration projects.
• Ability to review controls, automate reporting and drive improvements.
• Experience with ERP migration projects and data cleansing.
• Familiarity with Access Dimensions and/or Dynamics 365BC is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close and maintain the nominal ledger.
• Produce and review the trial balance, resolve variances.
• Support monthly management accounts preparation.
• Manage year-end statutory audit and liaise with external auditors.
• Lead ERP migration tasks: requirements, mapping, data cleansing, testing.

Halliday Marx have exclusively partnered with an outstanding British Manufacturing firm, a global leader in their field in the search for a new Finance Manager / Management Accountant.

Hybrid (4 days in) or in office

Birmingham

The Role:

• Taking ownership of the month-end close and maintaining the nominal ledger
• Producing and reviewing the trial balance, resolving variances
• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Managing the year-end statutory audit and acting as the main point of contact for external auditors
• Reviewing and improving finance processes, controls and reporting, making effective use of automation and AI
• Playing a leading role in the planned ERP migration, including requirements gathering, process mapping, data cleansing, testing and go-live
• Overseeing statutory and tax compliance
• Managing bank reconciliations across all accounts
• Overseeing purchase ledger and sales ledger
• Running payroll

Ideally, you will have or be:

• Recently qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent or be a finalist with exams this year
• Experience within a manufacturing or product-based SME
• A strong understanding of the full finance cycle, with the confidence to take ownership in a small finance team
• A proactive approach to technology, with experience of adopting or implementing new systems, automation or AI tools
• A strong desire to review and improve processes rather than simply maintain them
• Well-organised with strong attention to detail
• Experience using Access Dimensions and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central a bonus
• Previous involvement in an ERP migration or systems implementation
• Experience within a manufacturing or product-based SME
