Job summary

Cedar, in partnership with a growing automotive e-commerce business, seeks an interim Management Accountant in Hampshire. Hybrid working with occasional travel to UK sites.

You will support financial reporting, cash flow forecasting and controls while improving processes during a six-month contract. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will contribute to month-end journals, VAT returns, budgeting and statutory accounts preparation.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACCA or CIMA with experience in financial and management reporting.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and month-end experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly with finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Produce timely internal financial reporting for the Group Finance.
• Post month-end journals and reconcile ledgers.
• Produce weekly cash flow forecasts and monthly VAT returns.
• Assist budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Improve financial reporting processes and controls.
• Assist with statutory accounts and audits.

Job description

Cedar is currently partnered with a growing automotive e-commerce business to recruit an interim Management Accountant, based in Hampshire with hybrid working. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support financial reporting, cash flow forecasting and financial control, while helping to improve the processes supporting a growing business.

The Company

The business operates a consumer-facing digital platform within the automotive sector. With operations across multiple UK locations, it is developing its finance function to strengthen reporting, improve controls and support continued growth.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Producing timely and accurate internal financial reporting and monthly information for Group Finance.
• Preparing and posting month-end journals, alongside general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Producing weekly cash flow forecasts and monthly VAT returns.
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Improving financial reporting processes, procedures and controls.
• Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and internal and external audits.
• Supporting ad hoc finance projects.

Your Profile

You will be a qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA) with experience across financial and management reporting. You will bring:

• Strong technical accounting knowledge and practical month-end experience.
• Experience of improving financial and operational processes.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with finance and wider business stakeholders.
• Experience of inventory accounting, ideally.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or Navision would be advantageous.

This is a six-month contract based in Hampshire, with hybrid working and occasional travel to other UK sites. It offers broad exposure across financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, budgeting and process improvement within a growing automotive e-commerce business. The role offers a day rate of up to £350 depending on experience, inside IR35.
