Job summary

Affinity Trust is recruiting a Male Positive Behavioural Support Worker for Leicester (LE18). The role involves supporting a calm gentleman at home, promoting independence, and helping with community engagement. Full training is provided and a driving licence is desirable.

You will need experience in health and social care; sponsorship is not available. Working hours are 37.5 per week with an hourly rate of £14.30. DBS check will be required upon offer.

Who will I support?

What matters to the people we support matters to us. It’s their life, their way. We are looking for someone who is reliable and bubbly with a good sense of humour to join our team to provide support to a lovely calm gentleman, within his home. The person we support likes going to the park, taking drives out into the community and swimming. He loves listening to upbeat music and can become excitable at times.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and be adept at managing behaviours that challenge. You should be able to demonstrate your approach to understand non-verbal communication through gestures, noises and symbols as well as confidence with Makaton.

Your role is to inspire, support and promote independence while building a connection with them.

As a Positive Behavioural Support Worker you’ll be there to lend a helping hand in a way that puts the person’s needs first, this means:

• You will adapt your support to fit what each person needs and wants daily.
• You will encourage people to make their own choices, big and small.
• You will help people to do things themselves to be as independent as possible.
• You will support people to build confidence and life skills.
• You will support people to be a part of their community, joining local clubs and connecting with friends and family.
• You will be understanding, allowing people to take their time and do things at their own pace.
• You will celebrate people’s achievements, no matter how small they might seem to others.
