Job summary

FAFS Fire & Security in Greater London is seeking a Major Projects Design Engineer to provide detailed estimates for client projects, pre and post order, and maintain contracts while seeking new opportunities. You will act as an ambassador to position the company as a leading specialist system integrator.

The role requires experience designing fire safety and electronic security systems, knowledge of BS compliant design, familiarity with Aspirating Smoke Detection design software, and strong IT

Qualifications

• Experience in fire safety and electronic security design.
• Knowledge of BS Compliant Design requirements.
• Conversant with Aspirating Smoke Detection System design software.
• Knowledge of enterprise level Electronic Security Systems and Integrated Security Management systems.
• Conversant with IT systems such as Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Ability to understand technical specifications.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong customer facing and customer service skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Professional, self-motivated with drive and initiative.
• Valid driving license; willing to visit client sites.
• Good sales and networking skills.
• Technical document/proposal writing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost budgets and cost estimates for new contracts.
• Keep existing contracts up to date, including amendments and new cost estimates.
• Produce detailed technical designs fully coordinated for approval at Construction stage.
• Adhere to standards to maximise profit and customer satisfaction while minimising risks.
• Prepare detailed proposals for clients with competitive cost estimates and supporting docs.
• Maintain relationships with existing clients and seek new ones.
• Collaborate with delivery team on development and innovation.
• Keep detailed records of design and estimation docs including site assessments.
• Submit accurate cost/sales documents and client schedules.
• Balance multiple proposals to meet client deadlines.
• Coordinate with other departments to drive business development and profitable outcomes.
• Follow Health & Safety policies and ISO standards.

Responsibilities (are to include the following but are not limited to)

·Prepare cost budgets and cost estimates for new contracts.

·Keep existing contracts up to date, including making amendments, providing new cost estimates, and maintaining communication with the client.

·Produce detailed technical designs that are fully co-ordinated and achieve Status A or B approval at Construction stage.

·Adhere to company standards and guidelines when analysing and providing estimations, focus on maximising profit and customer satisfaction with the client, while minimising any potential risks to the company.

·Prepare detailed and well-written proposals for each client, adhering to client guidelines while offering competitive and comprehensive cost estimates, and including supplementary documentation.

·Maintain relationships with existing clients keeping a sales-minded attitude, and seek out and build relationships with new clients.

·Work with the delivery team to help with development, innovation, and creativity on client projects.

·Keep detailed records of all design and estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms, update any existing contracts immediately upon agreement of new terms with client.

·Prepare and submit accurate cost/sales documents, including client schedule of rates documents.

·Balance multiple proposals and estimations at once, ensuring each reaches the client by the deadline.

·Liaise with other company departments to maintain business development and continuously innovate new profitable outcomes.

·Follow Health & Safety procedures set out by the company in order to ensure the safety of you, your colleagues and others.Also, adhere to the Company Health and Safety policy.
