Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Security Systems Design Engineer to design and develop enterprise‑level electronic security solutions for UK projects. Hybrid working from Sunbury, Letchworth or Birmingham enables delivery of CCTV, ACS, IDS and PIDS across multi‑million‑pound deployments, with a focus on quality designs and documentation.

You will produce detailed system designs, conduct site surveys and collaborate with sales and project teams to support bids and deployment.

Qualifications

• Experience in the electronic security industry in a Design, Commissioning or Service role.
• Strong technical knowledge of CCTV, Access Control, IDS and Perimeter Detection.
• Ability to interpret architectural, electrical and network drawings.
• Experience producing or supporting technical system designs and documentation.
• Understanding of integrated security solutions and related technologies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK driving licence and eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC).

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

As a Security Systems Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing enterprise-level electronic security solutions for some of the UK's most complex and high-profile projects. Working in a hybrid role from our offices in Sunbury, Letchworth or Birmingham, you will support the delivery of integrated security systems including Access Control (ACS), CCTV, Intruder Detection Systems (IDS) and Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS).

Working closely with sales, project delivery and engineering teams, you will produce high-quality technical designs, develop innovative security solutions and provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced security commissioning or service engineers looking to transition into a design-focused engineering role.

What We Are Looking For
