Job description
Overview

The key function of the role is to support NHS Property Services in delivering building services maintenance and repairs across the NHS, to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, customers, and employees.

Job responsibilities
  • Deliver Scheduled, Reactive and Remedial maintenance services as directed by the PPM planner (CAFM), helpdesk or Technical Services Supervisor, ensuring that operational standards are maintained at all times.
  • Test and inspect Commercial/Industrial Air Conditioning and Refrigeration services, fault finding, minor repairs or installations and maintaining services and equipment within critical environments, including hospitals, clinics and offices.
  • Assess problems to determine the best course of action, including complex technical issues, and communicate technical information to various stakeholders.
  • Possibly undertake tasks in disciplines other than your own.
  • Ensure compliance with NHSPS Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policies, Technical Guidance, Procedures, Statutory Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and HTMs; implement new or revised practices within own work area.
Qualifications
  • C&G Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (6187)
  • Qualified to Level 2 NVQ in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
  • C&G FGAS and ODS Regulations (2079) (Safe handling of Refrigerants Certificate)
  • Formal apprenticeship or craft trained equivalent
Additional requirements

  • Driving licence is essential
  • Comfort using technological devices to log jobs
  • On-Call availability
  • Desirable to have industry experience
  • Ability to work alone and/or as part of a wider team
  • DBS checks and DVLA checks may be required
Key responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with NHSPS Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policies, Technical Guidance, Process and Procedures, Statutory Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and HTMs, and implement updated practices in the work areas.
  • Deliver maintenance services as directed by the PPM planner, helpdesk or Technical Services Supervisor.
  • Work in commercial/industrial air conditioning and refrigeration environments, including critical environments in hospitals, clinics, and offices.
  • Collaborate with other technical disciplines as required.
  • Communicate complex information to stakeholders effectively.
