Job summary

St Mary's Care Homes is recruiting a Maintenance Person for Acomb Manor, a forthcoming luxury care home in Durham. You’ll perform planned maintenance and respond to repairs to keep the home safe, secure and welcoming for residents, families and colleagues.

You’ll work with contractors, maintain logs and compliance checks, and help present a high‑quality environment. The role suits hands‑on, proactive practitioners who take pride in high standards and working collaboratively within the team.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, facilities, property care or similar role.
• Good DIY and repair skills.
• Basic health and safety knowledge.
• Experience with routine maintenance checks and logging.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
• Positive, flexible and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs to keep the home safe and comfortable.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance schedules and compliance checks.
• Maintain interior and exterior areas to luxury standards.
• Look after grounds, signage, and communal spaces.
• Identify and report issues, and resolve minor problems when possible.
• Support external contractors, ensuring safe and efficient work.
• Maintain maintenance logs and compliance records.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support residents.
