Job summary

Akari Care Limited is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join our team in a Western Newcastle-upon-Tyne area home. This hands-on role focuses on keeping the home well-maintained, safe and welcoming for residents and staff.

You will handle maintenance tasks, decor, grounds, plumbing, electrical, and repairs while supporting a culture of dignity, respect and comfort for older people. Training and DBS checks are provided as part of our commitment to outstanding care.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within similar environment
• Solid maintenance experience including building, DIY, cleaning and housekeeping
• Technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
• General knowledge of plumbing and joinery
• All-round maintenance attitude with solution-based approach
• Flexible and adaptable to changes at short notice
• Ability to work under pressure while remaining positive
• Warm, approachable and engaging personality
• Respect for everyone and for residents' needs
• Resilient and adaptable to differing needs of colleagues and residents

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance tasks in and around the home to a high standard
• Engage with residents and colleagues to support a safe and comfortable environment
• Perform internal decoration, grounds maintenance, safety checks and general repairs
• Manage supplies and utilities relevant to the home operations
• Assess areas of the home and provide timely maintenance attention
• Share knowledge with team to ensure consistent high standards
