Qualifications

• Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship required.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation necessary.
• Must be able to read drawings and carry out fault finding.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Planned Maintenance and defect repair work on electrical equipment.
• Repair and maintain the traffic safety system on approach to the tunnels.
• Perform Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Maintenance.

Job Description:

The role

To assist in the efficient operation of the M Tunnels by undertaking maintenance and other tasks as required by the Shift Manager.

This is a 4 days on – 4 days off shift, 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off

• When authorised, carry out switching on Connect Plus Services kV.
• Carry out Planned Maintenance and defect repair work on electrical equipment including Switchgear, Transformers, Pumps, Fans, VSDs, lighting, and control gear.
• Repair and maintain the traffic safety system on the approach to the Dartford tunnels, including sensors, barriers, and traffic signals.
• Read drawings and carry out fault finding and repairs independently.
• Perform Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Maintenance within the capacity of an Electrical Technician, with or without supervision.
• Drive vehicles as required for maintenance purposes.
• Perform other duties within the capacity of a Maintenance Technician as assigned by Line Managers.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship.
• Current Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (17th Edition is current).

Certificates (or willingness to undertake training):

• Authorised Person (HV desirable).
• MEWPS.
• Confined spaces training.
• Inspection & Testing C&G 1.
• CSCS Safety Card.
• IPAF.
• PASMA.
• G (DNO Equipment).
• Working at Height (Harness Training).
• First Aid.

Experience:

• Knowledge and experience of generators and switchgear up to KV (desirable).
• Fault finding using schematic drawings.
• Experience in Electrical Maintenance.
• Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.
• Ability to carry out electrical installations according to current legislation.
