Job summary

Wagstaff Recruitment in Cardiff, South Wales, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventive maintenance on production equipment, ensuring reliability and safety. You will contribute to maintaining production standards and supporting productive operations.

The role requires hands-on maintenance experience, an electrical or mechanical background, and PLC knowledge (Siemens/Mitsubishi).

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or equivalent formal qualification in production maintenance with electrical or mechanical focus.
• Capable of working under time pressure both independently and in a team.
• Committed to safety, quality and on-time delivery.
• Mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens / Mitsubishi).

Maintenance Technician

To carry out maintenance activities to equipment, site processes and services in-line with manufacturers / legal recommended interval and standards. Ensuring that the service supplied is of the highest possible standard and fits with production needs & requirements.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all production equipment.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, process changeovers, safety actions, and machine setups.
• Participate in installation qualifications, risk assessments, PUWER, and LOTO procedures.
• Collaborate with process engineering to monitor equipment performance and drive continuous improvement.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Hold an apprenticeship or equivalent formal qualifications (NVQ 3, HNC, or BTEC) in production maintenance manufacture with an electrical OR mechanical background.
• Thrive under time pressure, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Motivated, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and on-time delivers.
• Mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with PLCs – able to interrogate and modify PLC software (Siemens / Mitsubishi)
