Maintenance Technician Competitive salary with shift allowance 3 shift pattern (mornings/afternoons/nights) Monday - Friday Wallsend We are seeking a Maintenance Technician with either an electrical or mechanical bias to ensure the reliability and availability of plant and machinery. This role is focused on minimizing downtime through effective maintenance, SMED activities, continuous improvement projects, and strict adherence to health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities; Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to keep machinery operating efficiently. Assist with process setup and participate in SMED activities to reduce downtime. Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth operations and equipment availability. Support and actively engage in continuous improvement initiatives, promoting best operational practices. Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant legislation (Health & Safety, Quality, Environment, HSE, COSHH, ISO 14001, etc.). Coordinate audits, review SOPs, and promote best practices in health, safety, and quality. Contribute to project work as required and support other sites when needed. Skills & Competencies; Qualifications: City & Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. Ability to set up and adjust machines and processes using SMED. Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, including basic PLC programming and fault-finding skills. Experience in assembling, dismantling, repairing, and inspecting metal parts, tools, and sub-assemblies. Practical experience with continuous improvement tools and working effectively within small manufacturing teams. Knowledge of preventative maintenance schedules and routine machine checks. Strong understanding of HSE and quality policies with practical application. Experience; Minimum of 2 years' experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment. Proven track record in implementing continuous improvement and best practice maintenance.
