Job summary

Artifex Interior Systems is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician for our fast-paced manufacturing site. The role spans routine, preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of equipment, supporting production by fault finding and timely repairs.

You will work with injection moulding machinery (60–2700 tonnes), automation systems and related equipment, across days and nights on a weekend rota, ensuring safe, efficient operation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Qualified engineer with a recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering apprenticeship and an NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, ONC or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical knowledge, with ability to read technical drawings and electrical diagrams.
• Experience in manufacturing or production environment, ideally with automation and assembly equipment.
• Problem solving under pressure and ability to manage competing priorities in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine, preventative and unplanned maintenance across the plant in line with procedures.
• Fault finding, repair and maintenance of injection moulding machines from 60 to 2700 tonnes.
• Support laser cells, PU cells, assembly equipment and automated production systems.
• Assist with machine setup, adjustments and planned servicing; participate in weekend start-up/shutdown procedures.
• Contribute to installation projects and identify opportunities for continuous improvement; raise health and safety concerns.

Maintenance Technician

Working hours for this position with be varied 12-hour shifts, between 3-4 per week, alternating between days and nights (06:00-18:00 / 18:00-06:00). This averages out to 40 hours per week.

About The Role

We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our maintenance team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role where you'll play a vital part in ensuring plant, equipment and facilities operate safely and efficiently. Working across both planned and reactive maintenance activities, you'll support production by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns, carrying out fault finding and repairs, and helping to minimise downtime.

You’ll work with a wide range of injection moulding machinery, automation systems and supporting equipment while contributing to installation projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll carry out routine, preventative and unplanned maintenance activities across the plant while ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures. The role involves fault finding, repair and maintenance of injection moulding machines ranging from 60 to 2700 tonnes, as well as supporting laser cells, PU cells, assembly equipment and automated production systems.

You’ll assist with machine set-up and adjustments, undertake planned servicing activities, and support plant start-up and shutdown procedures as part of a weekend rota. You’ll also contribute to installation projects, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and proactively raise health and safety concerns to help maintain a safe working environment.

About You

You’ll be a qualified engineer with a recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering apprenticeship and hold an NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, ONC or equivalent engineering qualification. You will have strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical knowledge, with the ability to read technical drawings and electrical diagrams. Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment is essential, ideally with automation and assembly equipment. We’re looking for someone who enjoys problem solving, thrives under pressure and can respond effectively to competing priorities. You’ll be self-motivated, safety conscious and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Experience of plastic injection moulding machinery, Lean manufacturing techniques, robotics, overhead cranes or 18th Edition qualifications would be advantageous.
