Job summary

Allied Mills is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join the flour mill maintenance team. You will perform planned, predictive and reactive maintenance to maximise production uptime while complying with safety and quality standards.

The role requires a recognised engineering apprenticeship and experience with industrial 3 phase motors, PLCs, pneumatic systems, bearings, and steam/rising plant. Monday–Friday with on-call rota.

Qualifications

  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship is required.
  • Formal engineering qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience in FMCG, food, or drink environments advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Operate to site quality, environmental, health and safety procedures.
  • Contribute to plant improvements across departments/sites.
  • Carry out daily monitoring inspections and self-audits on a weekly rota.
  • Respond to unscheduled plant stoppages quickly and efficiently.
  • Use Maximo to record labour and materials and carry out PPM/PdM.

Hours: Monday to Friday (7am - 3:30pm, with a late week and call out rota)

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days exclusive of bank holidays

We have a great opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join an experienced team, providing a first-class service at our flour mill. In this role, the successful candidate will be expected to carry out planned, predictive and reactive maintenance tasks in line with safety and quality standards, to ensure the long term maximum utilisation of the production plant and its compliance with statutory legal requirements and to contribute to the continual improvement of the plant.

Key Accountabilities
  • Operate to procedures as defined within site quality, environmental and health and safety systems and standards.
  • Contribute to continual improvement of the plant, processes and working environment through generating and implementing improvements and working collaboratively across departments/sites.
  • Carries out daily monitoring inspections and self-audits in each area of the plant on a weekly rota.
  • Responding quickly and efficiently to any unscheduled plant stoppages.
  • Using the Maximo system, ensuring labour and material expended are recorded and PPM/PdM are carried out for all areas of the site.
  • Safely carry out all repairs to plant equipment and services as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Participating in the efficient running of the maintenance department, including; housekeeping, planning of work, use of tools and control of spare parts and materials.
  • Participating in the call out program for maintenance faults.
  • Analysing and rectifying plant/process defects in a timely manner using RCA where applicable.
  • Working within budget and reducing costs wherever possible.
The Right Person
  • A great customer focus with a flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative, be punctual and reliable.
  • Experience as a maintenance engineer in an operational environment preferably FMCG, Food or drink.
  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship, with a formal qualification.
  • Experience of industrial 3 phase motor and control systems and their interaction with modern PLC systems.
  • Experience of a plant with pneumatic control and operation and common industrial bearing systems
  • Experience of replacing common mechanical drive couplings, chains, belts, rolling element bearings.
  • Experience of compressed air systems, pneumatic components and steam rising plant.
