Job summary

Allied Bakeries is seeking a maintenance engineer to uphold site quality, health and safety standards while driving improvements across the plant. You will monitor operations, respond to stoppages, work with Maximo for maintenance records, and perform timely repairs to keep production running smoothly.

The role demands hands-on experience with PLC systems, 3-phase motors and pneumatic controls, plus an engineering apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• Qualified maintenance engineer with an engineering apprenticeship.
• Experience in FMCG/food or drink is preferable.
• Strong PLC and pneumatic control knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Operate to site procedures for quality, safety and environment.
• Contribute to continual improvement across plant and departments.
• Perform daily monitoring inspections and self-audits.
• Respond quickly to plant stoppages and faults.
• Record labour and materials in Maximo and carry out planned maintenance.
• Carry out repairs to plant equipment quickly and safely.
• Assist in maintenance department planning and housekeeping.
• Participate in the call-out program for faults.
• Analyse and rectify plant/process defects using RCA when applicable.
• Work within budget and drive cost reductions.

Job description

• Operate to procedures as defined within site quality, environmental and health and safety systems and standards.
• Contribute to continual improvement of the plant, processes and working environment through generating and implementing improvements and working collaboratively across departments/sites.
• Carries out daily monitoring inspections and self-audits in each area of the plant on a weekly rota.
• Responding quickly and efficiently to any unscheduled plant stoppages.
• Using the Maximo system, ensuring labour and material expended are recorded and PPM/PdM are carried out for all areas of the site.
• Safely carry out all repairs to plant equipment and services as quickly and efficiently as possible.
• Participating in the efficient running of the maintenance department, including; housekeeping, planning of work, use of tools and control of spare parts and materials.
• Participating in the call out program for maintenance faults.
• Analysing and rectifying plant/process defects in a timely manner using RCA where applicable.
• Working within budget and reducing costs wherever possible.
• A great customer focus with a flexible and adaptable approach.
• Self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative, be punctual and reliable.
• Experience as a maintenance engineer in an operational environment preferably FMCG, Food or drink.
• Computer literate.
• A recognised engineering apprenticeship, with a formal qualification.
• Experience of industrial 3 phase motor and control systems and their interaction with modern PLC systems.
• Experience of a plant with pneumatic control and operation and common industrial bearing systems
• Experience of replacing common mechanical drive couplings, chains, belts, rolling element bearings.
• Experience of compressed air systems, pneumatic components and steam rising plant.
