Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join the Estates team of a 45-acre site, primarily focusing on maintenance and logistics. The role supports both planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse estate including listed buildings, residential units, educational facilities, offices, and medical centres.

Tasks

The Maintenance Technician will work independently and collaboratively, managing daily maintenance tasks, compliance reporting, and pool plant operations. Responsibilities include liaising with contractors, ensuring high standards of work, and emphasizing health and safety compliance. This hands-on role is suited for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to maintaining the estate’s integrity and functionality.

Salary & Hours

Salary: £23,000 - £29,000 DOE

Hours: 37 hours per week, 8am – 4pm / 9am -5pm rota basis

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and managing daily maintenance activities, assessing jobs, specifying materials, and maintaining accurate digital records.
• Performing maintenance tasks using core trade skills, with flexibility across disciplines following training.
• Diagnosing faults, completing repairs, and ensuring safe, tidy workspaces.
• Supporting colleagues, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations including COSHH, fire safety, asbestos, and legionella.
• Communicating effectively with service users, promoting a professional image, and contributing to improvements and sustainability initiatives.
• Using and maintaining tools responsibly and participating in training and performance reviews.
• Additional duties as assigned, with some out-of-hours work possible with notice.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including COSHH, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements, with experience in reactive, planned, and improvement works in a customer-focused environment. Some flexibility is available for candidates with relevant experience and the right mindset.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Teamwork skills and ability to support external contractors.
• Excellent fault diagnosis skills, able to work from drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication skills, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
• Basic digital literacy, including email.
• Physical fitness for tasks involving lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
• Comfort working at heights and handling equipment such as ladders and scaffolds.
