Job summary

CDM Recruitment Ltd - Engineering & Manufacturing Specialists is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician for a busy UK manufacturing site. This permanent nightshift role operates on a 4 on 4 off pattern and focuses on minimising downtime, improving reliability, and ensuring machinery runs safely and efficiently.

You will respond to breakdowns, perform planned maintenance, fault-find, and support installation and commissioning of new equipment, with opportunities for overtime and annual

Qualifications

• Multi-skilled with mechanical and electrical competence.
• Experience in manufacturing/production with fault-finding.
• Able to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Engineering; 17th/18th Edition.

Responsibilities

• Respond quickly to mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Diagnose faults and implement permanent fixes.
• Maintain motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, sensors and control systems.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Ensure work complies with health and safety standards.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join a busy production facility. This is a hands‑on role focused on minimising downtime, improving reliability, and ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently.

This is a permanent nightshift position 4 on 4 off.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining production equipment, responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond quickly and effectively to mechanical and electrical breakdowns
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
• Diagnose faults on production machinery and implement permanent fixes
• Work on motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, sensors and control systems
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
• Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards
• Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability projects

About You

• Multi‑skilled with both mechanical and electrical competence
• Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Proactive, reliable, and safety‑focused

Qualifications
