Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on production machinery.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
• Fault-find on motors, gearboxes, conveyors, sensors, drives and control systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
• Carry out equipment inspections and identify potential failures.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire | £56,000 per annum | 4 on 4 off

Are you an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for a well-paid, stable position with a successful manufacturing business in Cleckheaton?

We are currently recruiting for a skilled engineer to join a busy production site, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern covering days and nights, with an annual salary of £56,000.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong electrical and mechanical background who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and wants to play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability and production efficiency.

The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining production machinery and site equipment, ensuring plant operates safely, reliably and efficiently.

You will carry out a combination of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive breakdown maintenance, fault finding and continuous improvement, working closely with production and engineering teams.

• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on production machinery.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
• Fault-find on motors, gearboxes, conveyors, sensors, drives and control systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
• Diagnose faults on electrical control circuits and safety systems.
• Carry out equipment inspections and identify potential failures before they result in breakdowns.
• Support machinery modifications, installations and engineering improvement projects.
• Complete maintenance records and engineering documentation.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work safely and comply with all site health, safety and engineering procedures.
• Work closely with production teams to prioritise breakdowns and maintenance requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced engineer who is confident working across both electrical and mechanical disciplines.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Multi-Skilled, Maintenance or Electrical Maintenance Engineer.
• Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
• Solid mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food or industrial production. Experience working with motors, drives, conveyors and automated machinery.
• Knowledge of pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems.
• Experience with planned preventative maintenance.
• An engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-diagnosis skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
• A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.

PLC and automation experience would be advantageous.
