Job summary

TXM Recruit is seeking a Maintenance Shift Engineer for a flagship site in Leicester. The role focuses on maintaining and optimizing state-of-the-art machinery within an FMCG-like distribution facility, with a Panama shift pattern and 12-hour rotations.

The ideal candidate will have electro-mechanical qualifications, PLC knowledge, and CMMS experience. A strong emphasis on health and safety, documentation, and problem-solving is required for this hands-on position.

Qualifications

• Must have Electro-Mechanical engineering grounding with hands-on maintenance ability.
• Experience with electrical schematics and motor controls.
• Familiarity with CMMS and engineering inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical disassembly and reassembly tasks, basic field wiring, equipment calibration, and system testing.
• Efficiently manage time using CMMS, aiming for over 90% utilization.
• Complete reactive repairs within set timeframes to minimize downtime.
• Conduct servicing and repairs of installed products, taking hands‑on ownership of issues to achieve swift resolutions.
• Interpret electrical schematics and work confidently with 415V motor controls.
• Prioritize health and safety by conducting thorough risk assessments.
• Demonstrate strong mechanical skills and read engineering drawings.
• Follow setup instructions, assembly guides and checklists with precision.
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.

Maintenance Shift Engineer

Leicester, Leicestershire

£54,539 per year excluding overtime

TXM Recruit is partnering with a prominent automation and intralogistics company to hire a skilled Maintenance Engineer for one of their flagship sites in Leicester. These roles involve maintaining and optimizing state-of-the-art machinery to ensure seamless operations at the distribution facility.

Shift Pattern:

• Panama schedule
• Work Hours: 6am – 6pm/6pm – 6am (2-week rotation)

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform mechanical disassembly and reassembly tasks, basic field wiring, equipment calibration, and system testing.
• Efficiently manage time using CMMS, aiming for over 90% utilization.
• Complete reactive repairs within set timeframes to minimize downtime.
• Conduct servicing and repairs of installed products, taking hands‑on ownership of issues to achieve swift resolutions.
• Interpret electrical schematics and work confidently with 415V motor controls.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

• Qualification at NVQ/BTEC/C&G Level 3 in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and technologies.
• Knowledge of PLC systems and their functionality.
• Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics is an advantage.
• Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using CMMS systems and managing engineering inventory.
• A qualification equivalent to HNC/HND is preferred but not essential.

Desirable Attributes:

• Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment using technical diagrams.
• Familiarity with 415V motor controls and understanding of PLC systems.
• Previous experience working on crane systems would be desirable due to the systems on site.
• Awareness of health and safety standards, including conducting risk assessments.
• Customer-oriented approach with effective communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and participate in training programs, including potential travel within Europe.
• Previous experience within an FMCG environment, such as distribution, packaging or production.
