Job summary

South Yorkshire Housing Association operates a responsive repairs team, delivering gas and plumbing services to homes and care facilities. The role involves wet plumbing with occasional gas work, in properties across the region, and requires a full driving licence, a Gas Safe registration, and a proven track record of high workmanship.

You will join our Home Maintenance Team, providing customer-focused repairs with a 37-hour week, 27 days leave plus holidays, and a company van with fuel card.

Qualifications

• Gas work experience with plumbing installations/repairs
• CCN1/CKR1 qualification and Gas Safe certification
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive in HMT fleet
• Flexibility to perform minor repairs requiring other trades and to work alone or in a small team
• Ability to advise clients on maintenance and repair issues

Responsibilities

• Carry out plumbing installations and repairs in customers' homes, vacant properties and care facilities
• Perform gas works from time to time while focusing mainly on wet plumbing
• Maintain high workmanship standards and deliver excellent customer care under tight deadlines
• Work with the Home Maintenance Team and respond to day-to-day repair requests

Plumber - Gas ( Day to Day repairs)

Permanent - Full Time

Salary starting at - £36,056 - £38,631 per annum, includes 5% market supplement

Additional Multi-skill bonus of £1308 per annum paid monthly for qualifying staff

Required to carry out of hours on call service on a rota basis, with additional payments made for this

We have an opportunity for a gas qualified plumber with proven track record to join our day to day responsive repairs team

The successful person will provide a variety of plumbing installations and repairs, working in customers' homes as well as vacant properties and our care facilities. While this role will predominantly focus on "wet plumbing" works there be a requirement to carry out gas works from time to time.

You will be working for our Home Maintenance Team, who are a team of trade professionals.

You will maintain the high standards expected of this team and deliver excellent customer care at all times while working to tight deadlines. This is a role working in a fast paced environment that is frequently subject to change.

Job Description

Salary - Starting at £36,056 for a 37 hour week - Rises to £36,915 after successful completion of probationary period

Salary rises incrementally up to £38,631 over a five year period

Working hours - 37 hours per week

27 days annual leave, Bank holidays including an additional 4 bank holiday days

Driving licence essential - Includes a company van and fuel card

More about the role:

Reporting to the HMT Gas Supervisor the role will entail working alone or as part of a small team. You will be carrying out plumbing installations and repairs in the homes of our customers, and buildings owned or maintained by SYHA. In this role you will be working to achieve high standards of workmanship and excellent customer care at all times.

Who you are:

The perfect person for the role will possess the following skills and qualities -

• The experience and the ability to carry out Gas work and plumbing work. This will include both installations and repairs.
• Possess the relevant gas qualification - CCN1, CKR1. Must be able to obtain and retain certification with the current compliance authority - Currently Gas Safe.
• Have the ability to solve problems and to make recommendations for repair and maintenance issues.
• Be flexible and have the ability to carry out minor repairs requiring the skills of other trades, such as minor joinery and plastering works.
• Have the ability to provide advice and guidance to clients/customers on maintenance and repair issues.
• Have a full driving licence and be confident to drive vehicles in the HMT fleet. This includes vehicles up to long wheelbase transit size.
• A working knowledge of digital work solutions including using online applications.
