Job summary

Construction in Manchester is seeking a proactive Maintenance Operative to join our busy student accommodation team. The role involves responsive and preventative maintenance, ensuring safety, compliance, and a well-presented estate across rooms and communal areas.

You will perform general repairs across plumbing, decorating and joinery, work independently, manage your workload, and provide a professional service to residents. Tools are provided and holiday pay is included.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance roles, preferably in multi-skilled environments.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
• Strong practical skills across general maintenance disciplines.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a proactive multi skilled Maintenance Operative to assist the team of a busy student accommodation. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering an outstanding living experience by ensuring all maintenance and repair requests within the accommodation are handled efficiently and effectively.

You'll be responsible for carrying out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance, ensuring the estate remains safe, compliant, and well-presented at all times.

Duties:

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests via internal systems
• Carry out general repairs, including plumbing, decorating, joinery
• Support both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities
• Conduct regular inspections of rooms and communal areas
• Identify and address maintenance issues and health & safety risks
• Support record-keeping for maintenance logs, inspections, and compliance
• Deliver a professional and approachable service to residents
• Communicate clearly and effectively across teams and with residents

Requirements:

• Proven Maintenance/Handyman/multi skilled labourer / trade experience
• Strong practical skills across general maintenance disciplines
• Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively
