Oliver Valves Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Operative in Knutsford to join a growing, family-owned valve manufacturer.

You will perform preventive and reactive maintenance, coordinate on-site contractors, and ensure HSE compliance. The role offers a base salary in a £35,000–£40,000 range with a discretionary annual bonus and comprehensive benefits, reflecting the company’s growth and industry leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role.
• Sound mechanical knowledge and fault-finding abilities.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Electro-mechanical background is desirable.
• Time-served or qualified engineer preferred.

Responsabilités

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across sites.
• Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programmes.
• Manage on-site contractors and new equipment installations.
• Assist with calibration and equipment accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, LOLER, PUWER and FSO.

Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30am till 5pm. 40 hours per week

What You’ll Be Doing as a Maintenance Operative

• Ensure company compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) regulations, including LOLER, PUWER and the Fire Safety Order (FSO).
• Develop, implement and maintain a preventative maintenance programme across all company sites.
• Manage and carry out planned and reactive maintenance of company assets.
• Assist with the coordination and delivery of facilities maintenance activities.
• Prioritise equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime and production disruption.
• Manage on-site contractors carrying out maintenance activities and new equipment installations.
• Assist with the calibration of equipment to ensure compliance and operational accuracy.
• No two days are exactly the same, and as a Maintenance Operative, you’ll be right at the heart of what we do.

What You’ll Bring

We’re not expecting you to know everything from day one—full training is provided for every workshop operative. That said, it would be great if you:

• Sound mechanical knowledge.
• Ability to fault-find and rectify issues with equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Time-served or qualified engineer.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar field.
• Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
• Electro-mechanical background.
