Job summary

Cygnet Health Care is seeking a Maintenance Operative for The Old Vicarage to deliver repairs and routine maintenance across the site. The role focuses on painting, joinery, plumbing and general building work, with an emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional travel to other sites and on-call duties outside hours. An enhanced DBS check and full driving licence are required.

• Able to record detailed, accurate maintenance information.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance and repair service across the site.
• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs across the site.
• Undertake basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work.
• Maintain plant, services and vehicles in working order.
• Check fire alarm points weekly and ensure safety.
• Travel to other sites as required and be on call for emergencies.

Job description

This Maintenance Operative post sits within Cygnet Health Care at The Old Vicarage, a residential service supporting adults with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge. The work centres on repairs and routine maintenance across the site, including basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work. It is a weekday role of 40 hours, Monday to Friday, on either an 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm shift, with occasional travel to other sites and on-call emergency repairs outside hours. An enhanced DBS check is required for appointment.

What the job involves

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance and repair service
• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs across the site
• Undertake basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work
• Maintain plant, services and vehicles in working order
• Comply with safe working practices and report faulty equipment and potential hazards
• Check fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices and emergency lights
• Travel to other sites as required
• Be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside normal working hours
• Help keep the environment safe, secure and well maintained for people in care, colleagues and visitors
