Job Summary

About the role

Our maintenance officers play a vital role within the running of the hospices and take pride in the environment in which they operate. It is the Maintenance Officer's responsibility to ensure that all equipment and facilities are fully functioning, prioritizing the safety of employees and customers.

A key aspect of the role is to identify hazards, investigate accidents, and educate employees about risks.

As you will be required to work across all 3 hospices and carry out various reactive and planned maintenance tasks, a valid UK driving licence is essential as frequent travel may be required throughout the day.

Essential criteria
  • Qualifications within a trade relevant to facility management
  • Significant and recent experience in a similar role
  • Experience working in a high-pressure environment with multiple demands
  • Knowledge of reactive maintenance and minor building works
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at work, manual handling
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative and communicate effectively
  • Ability to provide clear verbal and written instructions for repairs
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing situations
  • Adherence to safe systems of work
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good health to meet physical demands
  • A valid UK driving licence and ability to travel across the catchment area
