Job summary

Ivy Gate Lodge Care Home in Southport, Merseyside, is seeking a Maintenance Officer to keep the home safe, well maintained and fully operational. The role is hands-on, with responsibility for repairs, inspections and general upkeep across building and grounds, working alongside the Home Manager to coordinate contractors and ensure health and safety standards are met.

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or a similar role.
• Good knowledge of general repairs, electrical and building maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.
• A proactive and practical approach.
• Reliable, organised and able to problem solve.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep.
• Ensure equipment and systems are working safely and efficiently, identifying issues early and taking appropriate action.
• Work closely with the Home Manager and team, supporting maintenance planning, compliance checks and contractor coordination.
• Help maintain a well organised, safe and fully functional environment, ensuring all work complies with health and safety standards.

Job description

Ivy Gate Lodge Care Home is a modern, purpose built 68 bed care home in Southport, Merseyside, delivering high quality residential, nursing, dementia and respite care within a warm, supportive and person centred environment.

Maintenance Officer Contract

• £13.71 per hour
• Contracted to 40 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As a Maintenance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the home remains safe, well maintained and fully operational at all times. This is a hands on role with responsibility, where your practical skills and proactive approach will directly support the safety, comfort and overall environment.

You will carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep. You will ensure equipment and systems are working safely and efficiently, identifying issues early and taking appropriate action.

Working closely with the Home Manager and wider team, you will support maintenance planning, compliance checks and contractor coordination where required. You will help maintain a well organised, safe and fully functional environment, ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety standards.
