Job summary

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Schedules of Condition and their purpose.
  • Basic Health & Safety legislation knowledge (e.g., Health & Safety Act 1974).
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to produce clear, structured written reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Ability to work independently on-site and in an office environment.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.

  • Identify and assess dilapidations, defects and maintenance requirements.
  • Capture high-quality photographic evidence of site conditions (camera provided).
  • Prepare detailed Condition Reports and Schedules of Condition following site visits.
  • Record findings accurately using spreadsheets and reporting tools.
  • Apply appropriate surveying techniques when assessing property condition.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation during inspections.
  • Liaise with internal administrative teams to support reporting and documentation processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and findings.
  • Manage workload between site-based and office-based duties.
  • Travel independently to multiple locations as required.

6-Month Contract with Local Authority

Summary

The Survey / Inspections / Maintenance Officer is integral to preserving the quality and safety of property assets through comprehensive site evaluations. This role involves inspecting various assets, including garages, roadways, forecourts, street scenes, paving, and boundary structures. The officer is responsible for identifying defects and dilapidations, capturing photographic evidence, and creating detailed condition reports to support maintenance planning and asset management. This position requires a blend of on-site inspections and office-based documentation, collaborating closely with the administrative team to ensure precise and timely reporting.

  • Ability to produce clear, structured, and accurate written reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Ability to work independently on-site and collaboratively in an office environment.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
Qualifications
  • Minimum HNC or HND in Building Studies (or a related discipline)
OR
  • A minimum of 10 years’ relevant industry experience in surveying, inspections, or property maintenance.
  • Contract Duration: 6 months
  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Location: Combination of site-based (field work) and office-based work
  • Equipment Provided: Camera for site inspections
