Job summary

A leading UK steel manufacturing and recycling business is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations at its Cardiff recycling facility. You will own maintenance across the shredding site, implement preventative maintenance routines, and drive plant reliability for high-value equipment.

You will lead a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, plan maintenance activities around production, and ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Senior maintenance or engineering leadership experience in heavy industrial environments.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and planning/scheduling.
• Experience managing engineers, fitters, or maintenance technicians.
• Shredder or sizeable heavy-process machinery experience is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills.

Responsibilities

• Own maintenance operations across the shredding facility.
• Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance to maximise uptime.
• Lead mechanical and electrical engineers and fitters.
• Oversee reactive maintenance, breakdowns and repairs.
• Drive improvements to equipment reliability and maintenance performance.
• Ensure maintenance tasks are prioritised, scheduled, and documented.
• Collaborate with production to align maintenance with schedules.
• Uphold safety standards and equipment compliance.
• Monitor maintenance KPIs and drive efficiency.
